We’re Half a World Apart, Yet Still So Close

I got to talk to my sister and niece on Skype again today. Don’t you just love the internet and the high technology – audio teleconferencing and video chat totally for free; it gets no better, or cheaper, than that. And who doesn’t love a freebie?

This is how we update each other. We are thousand of miles apart and though we don’t do it that often because my sister is busy with her work, we do make the most of it once she finds the time.

And today was one of those times. We talked for hours and if not for them having to go to bed since we have a twelve hour time difference, we would have continued yakking. No worries though, we still have a lot of days coming where we can talk again which is something that I really look forward to happening.

He Was A Yakker Then, and Still Doesn’t Know When to Shut Up!

This old phone was my hubby’s family’s phone way back in the 50’s. He actually had a picture taken holding the receiver of the phone when he was a year old as if he was talking to another person on the other line. That was a make-believe photo, but he looks so cute in that one.

I do wonder if small business phone systems were already available at that time. And did they have phone booths back then? Thinking about it now makes me wonder how the phone booths looked then, if there were any. Let me check that online. That would be interesting.
